Rivers Govt Begins Payment Of Arrears To Pensioners

 

GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said yesterday that his government had commenced payment of arrears owed pensioners in the state The governor who disclosed this in Port Harcourt, said all of them would have been paid before the end of next week.
He said he ordered the Ministry of Finance to commence payment immediately, noting that it was unfortunate that a state such as Rivers could owe pensioners between six and eight months arrears.
The governor who spoke through his media aide, Mr Opunabo Nko-Tariah, assured that his government would give priority to civil servants and pensioners welfare, saying “the governor has cleared all the arrears owed pensioners and has given a directive to the State Ministry of Finance to ensure that all pensioners get every naira owed them by the state government.” every labourer deserves his pay. Workers in Rivers State will not suffer again.”
