Big Brother Africa Set To Launch Another Hot Season In 2013

Let's just be real about this. This year's Big Brother Africa Stargame was just off the hook. Let's not even play around. I know most people just love to hate on this show, but come on, StarGame was really something.
As usual, MultiChoice brings Big Brother back with a bang. Honestly, sometimes it fails to be as interesting and entertaining as the previous season, but most of the times, it really blows up. take for instance Big Brother Allstars and StarGame. Now, those were two hot shows.
The huge demand for the show is evident and M-Net is not about to dissapoint its fans. That is why the next season will be launching next year.
Just like the StarGame, this new season will have a new and very different not to mention much more interesting and captivating twist that is set to capture the attention of its fans yet again.
"We are delighted with the new concept that has been developed for the upcoming show. Every year as soon as we know that we are going ahead with a new season, we head into a creative brainstorming session and every year, ideas just go racing around the room. Our teams enjoy the show as much as our audiences do and it shows on screen. And this year, I have a feeling that audiences are going to fall in love with the new idea!" confirmed Endemol MD, Sivan Pillay.
Oh, I just can't wait for the arrival of this one.

Nkiru Sylvanus & Kenneth Okolie's kidnap:Undisclosed Letter to IG of police

An undisclosed etter to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, from friends and colleagues of actors Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie

Dear Sir,
Nollywood Actors' Kidnap: Please bring our colleagues back home for Christmas
We write to formally inform your esteemed office of the kidnap, last Sunday, December 16th, of two of our colleagues, enterprising entertainers, Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie. The two actors were in Owerri, Imo State, shooting a movie when they were forcefully abducted by masked gunmen. Some hours later, the mindless abductors contacted family and friends of Ms Sylvanus especially demanding a N100m ransom. Up till now, we cannot fathom the rationale behind their kidnap. And their abductors have advanced none.

Perplexingly, about five days after this untoward incident, no concerted efforts, as far as we know, are being made to rescue these hardworking and patriotic Nigerians who sweat and toil to bring joy into millions of homes and hearts across Nigeria and the globe. Indeed, it is sad and heartbreaking.

It is even more worrisome and befuddling considering that these actors’ kidnap is coming just days after the Police, under your distinguished leadership, valiantly and commendably went all out for the kidnapped 82-year-old mother of the coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister for Finance, Dr (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The result, as we all know, is that Prof Kimene Okonjo was returned home hale and hearty, thanks to the Police, your Police. Are Sylvanus and Okolie lesser citizens? Are they no longer Nigerians who you should be bothered about their safety and wellbeing? Don’t they deserve the kind of police attention that Professor Okonjo got? Does kidnap have another name? Or, has Nigeria been reduced to George Orwell’s Animal Farm where some animals are more equal than others?

We, the Friends of Sylvanus and Okolie, do not think so. We just believe that you probably are swamped with protecting the lives and property of Nigerians during this yuletide season or you are not aware how important they also are as law abiding citizens of this great country.

Sir, Ms Sylvanus is one of the more popularand proficient role interpreters in Nollywood (Nigeria’s globally acclaimed movie industry) with a catalogue of seminal movies that have shored up our rating as a filmmaking nationin the last 15years.Worthy of mention is that it is because of actors like Sylvanus that the Nigerian movie industry has achieved so much reverenceand renown globally. Apart from her acting career, she is also a notable philanthropist who donates as much as she earns to motherless babies and widows.

Mr. Okolie, on the other hand, won the Mr. Nigeria contest in 2010 and went on to represent Nigeria at the Mr. World contest where he was second runner up. In his own way, he has flown the flag of Nigeria in pride on global stages. He is also an actor and singer and model. He is willing to do more to further make Nigeria proud but he can’t do anything in captivity.

It is in the light of our apparent helplessness that we decided to write you this letter to please deploy the same audacious expertise and refined gallantry that have become the hallmark of the Nigeria Police under your watch to bring our colleagues home to their families and fans. Of course, you know sir, that these young Nigerians cannot afford anything near the ransom being demanded and we are scared that if something is not done fast, we fear the worst for Sylvanus and Okolie. That is why we are counting on you sir.

As we earnestly await their return, we hope that you would please, use your office to evolve a winning and redoubtable strategy to protect the Nollywood community from the increasing incidence of abduction as we have not forgotten so soon that veteran screen idols Nkem Owoh and Pete Edochie have traveled that tortuous and unpleasant road before.

We wish to continue entertaining Nigerians and doing Nigeria proud with our art but we cannot do so under an atmosphere of pervasive insecurity and vulnerability.

Please, help us and accept the assurances of our profound regards and promise to continue to be Proudly Nigeria.

God bless you.

God bless the Nigeria Police

God bless Nigeria

NEWS:-Minister of Finace "Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala" Revealed Why Her Mother Was Kidnapped

The Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finace , Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala revealed Monday that her

mother, Prof Kamene Okonjo was kidnapped by those who claimed their fuel subsidy payments were blocked and the non-release of SURE-P funds. While she was in their custody, the kidnappers spent much of the time harassing her. They told her that I must get on the radio and television and announce my resignation.
· When she asked why, they told her it was because I did not pay “Oil subsidy money”.
· They also said I had blocked payment of money to certain components of the SURE-P programme.
· These statements are, of course, not true. In the case of subsidy payments, we have been paying all marketers whose claims have been verified by the Aig-Imoukhuede Committee after going through the necessary processes.
· For marketers whose transactions are proven to be fraudulent, the position of the Jonathan government is also clear: we cannot and we will not pay. We will not back down on this. We will continue to stand firm.

GIST:- Tonto Dikeh Covers December Issue of Y! Magazine

Just in time for Christmas, the 10th issue of Y! Magazine is out, and this new edition is certainly a first for a lifestyle magazine in Nigeria. The magazine, unveiled exclusively to invitation-only guests at the Annual Y! Magazine Black Ball in Lagos on Sunday, 16 December 2012 has controversial singer and actress Tonto Dikeh on its cover – but, in a bold move, it’s an illustrated cover!

“We are excited to have pushed the envelope,” said its editor-in-chief, Chude Jideonwo. “Y! Magazine launched with a bold artistic presentation which was the Omotola cover, and it’s a tradition we have re-ignited. In the new media space, the place of the magazine as a conversation starter might be undergoing a makeover, but the art and essence of the magazine should remain the same.

“It stands at a unique position as a media event and a cultural catalyst, provoking and driving the popular dialogue with features, conversations, imagines, narrations, even controversy. Like the venerable magazine editor Tina Brown has said - you want to publish something that generates energetic debate; otherwise, why would you want to publish it?”

With a cover story themed “How do you solve a problem like Tonto Dikeh?” that investigates the cultural phenomenon that Ms. Dikeh has become, it kicks off a new Y! Magazine cover philosophy to give deeper insight, beyond predictable interviews, into the Nigerian culture and issues zeitgeist.

The cover illustration is by Bolaji Iwayemi, and the photography for the inside pages is by the iconic Kelechi Amadi-Obi, with styling by the impressive duo of Toyin Lawani and Tiannah Styling.

As always, Y! Magazine is a skilful mix of issues, lifestyle, and culture. There is a feature on Nigeria’s visionary mega-church pastors, sex and the single Christian, ‘Under Attack’ which explores Muslim stereotypes, and ‘Believe it or Not’ which interrogates young Nigerian atheists.

The delicious 8-page Christmas Special shares the colours, designs, movies, and songs that should keep you company this season, and over a dozen celebrities – including Wizkid, Toke Makinwa and others - share what they call their ‘most memorable Christmas.

The entertainment pages include interviews with Iyanya, Joseph Benjamin, Andre Blaze, Dammy Krane, and Niyola, and Y! Magazine also unveils the first in its Annual Y! Magazine Best Dressed List – 20 young celebrities make the list this year!

And be sure to read an exclusive interview with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Ota residence.

And for Y! Magazine, its last issue for 2012 is also one for celebration. “We do know something about faith. If we aren’t making a big deal about our big move in being Nigeria’s first illustrated lifestyle magazine cover, it is because of our facility with faith,” said its editor’s letter this edition. “Faith in trusting the global-citizen bonafides of our readers as we push the envelope with the concept and content of our covers and our magazine. Or for that matter to be the one magazine that has not missed one edition since it launched 30 months ago in this famously impossible media market.”

Y! is available in stores and with vendors in Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Benin and Owerri. It is also available in all House of Tara Stores in Lagos, Abuja, Ilorin, Port-Harcourt, Benin, Kano, Ibadan and Kaduna and with Y! campus representatives in 19 states within the country. You can also pay for the magazine with your mobile phone and have it delivered to you at no extra charge.

Man Tried Committing Suicide Twice As A Result of Eye Problem

Culled from Punch
Taofeek Muraina never had it good as a child. His adulthood is not even better. This, perhaps, explains why the 40-year-old bricklayer thought it wise to die rather than being put to shame by friends and neighbours.
Twice this year, he has attempted suicide. The first time, Punch Metro learnt, was about five months ago, while the second one was on December 5.
On December 5, he had wanted to poison himself when a neighbour arrived on time and raised the alarm.
Muraina has been battling with an acute eye condition since when he was a child. As he grows, his condition worsens, making life unbearable for him.
Explaining reasons for attempting suicide, he said, “Life is unbearable for me. I was born with an eye problem. My wife, Tawa, left me and dumped our 10-year-old son with me. I learnt that she has got married to another man.
“I attempted to commit suicide by poisoning myself while my son and neighbours were not at home but my landlady got home while I was preparing the mixture.
His landlady, Mrs. Aminat Oseni, who said that Muraina had been her tenant for five years, explained that it was the second time that he attempted taking his own life.
Oseni said, “He (Muraina) is a friend to my son, Fatai, who is a welder. My son appealed to me that we should accommodate him when he came begging for accommodation.
“According to him, he was sent packing by his former landlord on the ground that the landlord’s family wanted to make use of the apartment. But he said the landlord only ejected him because of his eye problem.”
Muraina, whose left eyeball gorge from the socket, said, “This is causing acute pain for me. I have been living in pain since I was born. It became worse during the crisis within the National Union of Road Transport Workers three years ago at Moniya. I was hit in my eyes by an object and since then it had been worse.”
His relatives, according to him, came with a promise that they would help him but they never showed up again.
Muraina’s landlady said, “When they saw him they burst out crying. They said that they would take him to the hospital but they could not do so for lack of funds.”
A Mass Communication Student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Yusuf Oseni, said Muraina had not been having any medical attention as a result of poverty, adding, “That is why five months ago he attempted to commit suicide by hanging.
“Having tried all available means to help himself, he decided to take his own life. He has no money to treat himself in the hospital. He is alone with his problem. When he went to the University College Hospital, he was asked to pay N10m.
Muraina, a resident of Gunwin Akingbile, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State, said the excruciating pains he experienced on a daily basis had made life difficult for him.
He said, “I am a bricklayer and I mould blocks. People in the neighbourhood always make jest of me. I take native treatment because I cannot afford the cost of surgery.
“I decided to end it all because I could not afford the cost of surgery and no one wishes to help me. With my condition, I still manage to work to feed myself and my son but people hate me.”
