Jamiacan sprint superstar Usain Bolt
World and Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt is to skip the Jamaican national athletics team pre-World Championships camp in Tottori, Japan.
Jamaica’s team manager Ludlow Watts made this known and said that the super star is the only athlete missing from camp.
“He was undergoing some amount of examination while he was preparing at the same time,” Watts was quoted by Reuters.
Watts stated further that the decision to leave out the world record holder was made the last minute and Bolt would now fly directly to Beijing where he would meet up with the rest of the team for the World Championships set for August 22-30.
“It was considered necessary that he should perhaps go to the venue of the competition directly, rather than coming here,” added Watts.
Bolt, the 100m and 200m records holder at 9.58 and 19.19, is now expected to arrive in Beijing early next week.
