In the Good Book it is written "And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment". That line is taken from Hebrews 9:27.
I
am not God who is the judge who determines whether we make it past the
pearly gates of Heaven or sent to the eternal flames of Hell. Inasmuch I
am not the 'I am that I am', my name is my name, and I think I have racked enough gravitas to judge the show of shame that has happened within the last 24 hours in the 5 Star Music camp.
Photos of Skiibii on an hospital bed wearing an oxygen mask
Yesterday, we were hit with the news that upcoming act Skiibii had passed away.
I did not know him personally, and I was not aware of his music but the
fact that a day before his 'death' he was on radio promo rounds pushing
his new single made me slightly sad. A 22-year-old upcoming act dies
before his career takes off, sounds like a line in the trailer of a
Hollywood movie about a rising star who never made it.
As the music industry started paying its last respects, the twist in the story came out- Skiibii was responding to treatment.
The thing about crap is that you don't need to see it before you smell
it. Skiibii resurrecting from the dead after his manager shared the
picture of a candlelight on Instagram makes the whole scenario was a
stunt of poor taste. But this is 5 Star Music we are talking about, good
taste and the label don't go together.
The photo of Skiibii collapsed on his living room floor that went viral. Skiibii is wearing the exact same clothes he wore in the previous photo posted 2 weeks before, and at the same location
Skiibii's tale looks suspicious and fake. The
wave of sympathy from the music industry transformed into a backlash,
and rightfully so. You do not joke with death. It is a serious thing.
Grieving over a parent, brother, sister, a member of your family,
friend, colleague, lover is something we should experience only once. No
one has the mental fortitude to grieve over someone twice.
Mourning
someone is a huge emotional act. It alters your mind, numbs your soul,
and nearly crushes your spirit. For Skiibii and his accomplices in 5
Star Music to pull off such a silly stunt shows they are wicked and
borderline evil. Fame is not that serious for you take people into the
pit of bereavement and tell them its only a joke later on. How low can
these guys go for them to trend and have their videos on Hip TV or Sound
City?
We have known 5 Star Music for its brand of tasteless
pop music, vulgar display of wealth, and annoying Instagram
competitions. This new stunt shows how low E Money and his boys will go
for relevance. Well Skiibii got what he wanted, he trended but not for
his single or songs. He trended because he died.
To
me Skiibii is really dead. In my mind he died after 24 hours of doing
promo rounds, and there is nothing that can bring him back in my mind. I
know a lot of other people in the music industry feel the same way to. I
don't care if two years from now he drops a dope album, as for me
Skiibii died on August 14. That's the end of his chapter. His ghost can
roam around in parties and perform at Industry Nite, that's his problem.
Skiibii is dead and nothing can change that.
As for 5 Star Music, I suggest my colleagues give
them a media blackout for a while. That label does not deserve to be in
the spotlight right now. It is definitely not made up of right thinking
people. DJs, VJs, and OAPs if you must take payola from them let them
pay double, as a matter of fact triple. Consider it payment for the
emotional disturbance and stress you went through when you found out
Skiibii died. They have the money, let E Money feel his bank account shake a little bit.
Now
for the judgement. You, Skiibii after your death should remain in
eternal music damnation of irrelevance. You are a struggle Lazarus.
Don't worry, your 5 Star Music brothers with the way their careers are
going will soon join you there.
Rest In Peace Skiibii (and rise no more).
