A spiritualist, Taiwo Afolayan, has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for fleecing his victim, Doris Omogbai, of N21million.
Doris
was a staff of a new generation bank when the spiritualist collected
the money from her at various places, causing her to lose her job.
It
was gathered that the bubble burst for Afolayan after Doris husband
dragged her to the police station to explain how she owes people lots of
money.
Sources told our reporter that Doris
declined to tell her husband her dealings with the spiritualist while
working at the bank because she was warned that she would die if she
revealed the deal.
The source said Doris opened up
to the police during interrogation and she did not die after which
Afolayan was arrested when he appeared to collect more money.
Police prosecutor, ASP Sylvester Omor, said the money was supposedly for prayers, healing and to help the victim ward off human attacks.
He said Afolayan claimed to be living on a mountain along Benin-Akure express road.
The accused was arraigned for stealing and obtaining under false pretense and was granted bail in the sum of N400,000.
He
pleaded not guilty to the charges, but Omor said the charges would be
amended since the matter was just transferred to another court.
