International Democracy Day
International Democracy Day is celebrated annually on September 15th. This year, we shared some information on Nigeria’s democratic journey to date. For example, each of the first 3 republics had one president each. For the 4th Republic that started in 1999, we have had 5 elections and 4 presidents. It is also in this republic that two former military heads of state have won elections as democratic presidents. We think this is unique to Nigeria! Or do you know any other country where this has happened? Read the full post. |

During a trip to Paris, President Buhari revealed that the federal
government has opened talks with Boko Haram in order to secure the
release of the girls. He further promised to grant amnesty to the
insurgents if they release all the abducted Chibok girls. In Borno this week, the Nigerian troops arrested 33 suspected food suppliers to the insurgents. Furthermore, scores of terrorists moved out of Sambisa forest to surrender to the Nigerian Army. We look forward to the freedom of the girls!!
