They offer ethnic interior decorating services and also stock African themed arts and handicrafts sourced from all over Africa. they have mirrors, lamps, gift items, clothing, foot ware, artwork, rugs, fabrics, accessories, furniture and tableware all made from natural materials and African themed.

Strengths:  My business is unique and a niche area in interior decorating. It achieves 2 major things; promoting African arts and crafts by increasing awareness and appreciation for cultural things and aids local artisans financially as all featured craft is sourced right from them.

Initial Challenges faced:  People not really appreciating African craft and viewing it as ‘local’, competing with the quest for foreign things. This has been overcome as people are beginning to catch on and appreciate how beautiful, unique and diverse African Design can be.

 

Main Inspiration:  Africa, with its extraordinary wealth of colours, textures, patterns, styles and traditions is my inspiration. Africa creates excitement born out of a deep passion and attraction for cultural and historical items.

Distinctive Qualities from Competitors:  My area of focus in interior decorating is a niche area as not many people are into it. There is a spirit of African Design, a warmth and tranquility that speaks to the soul.  It is a very distinct and beautiful area. This has distinguished me from my competitors.

Vision of Business in 5-10years: I see Itoby’s culture mix becoming a brand name in the interior décor world nationally and internationally making unique stand out interior décor in a class of its own
