FG Begins Construction Of 15 Weigh Bridges
The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 15 weigh bridges at various locations along major arterial roads in the country.
Among the areas to be affected include Ekiadolor and Sagamu along Benin-Ore-Sagamu, Onitsha-Enugu, Enugu-Port-Harcourt, Abuja-Kaduna, Kaduna-Kano, Onitsha-Asaba-Benin dual expressways.

Others are Ibadan-Ife, Okene-Ajeokuta and Makurdi-Lafia roads.
The Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 21 edition of National Council of works, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Thursday.
According to him, the road sector development of the Federal Ministry of Works was also in the process of procuring axle load control and weigh stations, along the newly rehabilitated Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja junction-Ikom-Mfum-Cameroon border corridor.
The minister explained that from 4,500 km of fair roads in 2011, the present administration had ramped up kilometers of good roads to over 2500 km in 36 months with some of the roads alignments, comparing favourably with those in developed countries.
While the cumulative cost of ongoing federal roads stands at N1.765 trillion, Mr Onolememen said the assets values of road network was estimated at about N7 trillion, adding that, “these huge investments and assets needed to be protected, more so, when over 90% of freight transportation in the country was by road.
