Ebola: Wada Counsels Kogi Residents On Preventive Measures

The programme is said to be one of the components of the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme.

Wada said some measures had been specified by public health experts as safety mechanisms to be adopted to contain the spread of the disease. He appealed to the residents to imbibe sanitary culture of washing their hands and added that they should abstain from the consumption of bush meats known to be carriers of the dreaded virus.
The governor who described the state as a gateway to the North and Southern part of Nigeria enjoined citizens of the state to adhere strictly to measures which  the state government had put in place through the Emergency Rapid Response Committee, to address issues on Ebola virus infection. He promised that the government will do all that is necessary to protect the citizens of the State.
The governor also called on the residents to cooperate with the committee for the prevention, detection and prompt treatment of any discovered case. Special Adviser to the governor on health matters, Hajia Maimuna Umar stated that as community health and extension workers who are at the grassroots, they have greater roles to play in the sensitization and prevention of the diseases at the grassroots. 
She called for collaboration by all stakeholders in ensuring that the state remained free of the virus.
