An insider dished, “He was smitten with Selena even while he was dating Chloe, which was one of the reasons they broke up.” We could see how your boyfriend being in love with another woman could put a bit of a damper on the relationship. Buhari Warns The Corrupt, ‘No Longer Business As Usual’

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday warned there was no longer any hiding place for the corrupt, as he hailed British and Swiss support for the recovery of stolen public funds.

“Switzerland and Britain have been very helpful indeed in the recovery of our assets. But we must build on what we have started,” he told both countries’ ambassadors separately in Abuja.
“It is also important to send a signal to the elite that it is no longer business as usual,” he said, according to a statement from his office.
Buhari has vowed to recover “mind-boggling” amounts of stolen oil money and bring those responsible to book, as part of a drive against corruption and to replenish depleted government coffers.
The arrest in London last week of the country’s former oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke on suspicion of bribery and money laundering has shocked Nigeria’s political establishment.

27,000 Pounds Seized From Alison Madueke By UK Court

The Westminster Magistrate’s Court in London has granted an application to seize 27,000 pounds sterling from Nigeria's former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The application was granted today, October 5 in accordance to Section 295 of Proceeds of Crime Act 2012.

As stipulated by the granted application, the money would be held by the court until April 5, 2016.

Multiple reports said Diezani did not appear in court today, Monday, October 5; but her mother Beatrice Agama, and another woman identified as Melanie Spencer were at the sitting.

A separate application was reportedly filed against Ms. Agama for the seizure of an undisclosed amount of money.

Furthermore, The Sun UK reported that Diezani was arrested while attempting to buy a luxury apartment at one Hyde park in the UK with 13 billion pounds (N3 trillion).

The decision has however attracted criticisms from some people who have argued that the nation’s constitution forbids a sitting President from holding another public office.

Some industry experts also claim that the position of a minister will divert Buhari’s attention from his presidential duties and make him wield too much power.

But the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, accused those he described as “briefcase-carrying crooks” as being behind the President’s criticism on the matter.

Abuja Bombings: Police Comb IDP Camps For Suspects

There are strong indications that the police are combing camps of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Abuja as part of investigations into the multiple blasts that claimed 20 lives in Nyanya and Kuje, two satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory, last Friday.

It was learnt on Sunday that investigators were working on the theory that insurgents might have infiltrated the IDP camps located in different parts of the FCT.

It was gathered that detectives had been dispatched to some of the camps as part of efforts to get to the root of the blasts.

No fewer than 3,000 persons displaced by Boko Haram in the North-East are living in different parts of the FCT, including Durumi, Area one, New Kuchingoro, Games Village, Pegi village, and Kuje.

Sources informed our correspondent on Sunday that the police were not ruling out the possibility that the explosions might have been carried out by terrorists who had been hiding among the displaced persons in the FCT.

European satellite operator Eutelsat Communications and social media giant Facebook said Monday they are working jointly to deliver satellite broadband Internet to connectivity-hungry sub-Saharan Africa.

Our Electricity Bills Higher Than House Rent ─ Residents

Residents of the Apapa-Iganmu and the Ifelodun local council development areas of Lagos State on Friday marched in protest to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company in Ijora-Badia over what they described as crazy bills served by the company on them.

The residents told PUNCH Metro that their electricity bills were higher than their house rents.

The residents displayed placards and sang solidarity songs to the distribution company, demanding an explanation from the authorities on why such bills should be given to them.

The protesters, who marched from Amusu Street, went through the Gaskiya Road, calling on shop owners and other stakeholders to join them.

FG Signs 5 Years $2.3billion Assistance With US Inother To Reduce Poverty In The Nation

In dire need to reduce extreme poverty in Nigeria, especially in the insurgency ravaged north eastern part of the country, the federal government has signed a $2.3billion assistance agreement with the United States Agency for International Development.
The agreement would cover activities of the government for the next five year running from 2015 through 2020.
The development was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed on Sunday.
According Akande, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo last week in a meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government just as the USAID Head of Mission in Nigeria, Mr. Michael Harvey, signed on behalf of the US government.
Akande in the statement added that the the U.S. Government has shown more than a passing interest in the present government in Nigeria, noting the the country’s relationship with that of the US improved on the heels of the recent visit of president Mohammadu Buhari in July.
“The issue of the extreme poverty of a vast majority of Nigerians is a very important issue for us, it is at the heart of our economic policy, at the centre of our agenda. You can’t have that vast number of poor people and don’t plan around that and for us, this is crucial, and absolutely important,” Osinbajo said.
The Vice President who assured of absolute transparency in running the affairs of the also expressed deep satisfaction that the crisis ridden North-East was fathomed into the agreement, especially to tackle the problem of out-of-school children as well as as other parts of the country.
Essentially, the treaty is expected to “stimulate inclusive economic growth, promote a healthier, more-educated population and help strengthen good governance.”
Also speaking the USAID Director said the agreement would provide a solid foundation for the two countries to partner to reduce inequalities across the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on sunday in Abuja, assured victims of last Friday’s bomb blasts at Nyanya and Kuje in Abuja, that Federal Government would take full responsibility of settling their medical bills.
This came as the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, said the multiple bombings unleashed on innocent residents at Kuje and Nyanya towns in Abuja by terrorists was not only condemnable, but also a call for communal vigilance by all residents.
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also condemned the  bombings, describing it as cowardly, brutish and offensive to the collective well-being of all Nigerians.
Similarly, President, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, condemned the bomb attacks.
On the bills, President Buhari gave the assurance while on a visit to the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital, where the victims of the blasts were receiving treatment.
While wishing them speedy recovery, the President, who was accompanied to the hospital by his personal aides and Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, visited the intensive care unit, the paediatric unit and general wards of the National Hospital.
He was, however, gree-ted with the sight of a baby girl at the paediatric ward whose mother, Mrs. Deborah Stephen, had broken into tears on seeing President Buhari.
She told the President that the baby girl was shot by armed robbers who raided their home, adding that the family could not afford the medical bills.
President Buhari directed his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, to settle the medical bill of the girl, which amounted to N268,790.

Since the staff returned to production in August for season 14, there have been waves of layoffs. Days after employees settled in from their summer hiatus, executives carried out the first wave of cuts by axing the entire transcription department.

Nigerian Army Bans Ex-Boys Of Military Schools From Use Of Army Camouflage

Ex-Students of Nigerian Military School, Zaria have been banned from the use of the Nigerian Army Army uniforms, accoutrement and kits without authorisation.

According to a report by Leadership Newspaper, the ex-students have been banned from unauthorised use of the uniforms in civil institutions.

In a statement signed by the Director of Nigerian Army Public Relations, Col Sani Kukasheka Usman the use of the military uniform by ex-students of the military institution is not only unlawful but worrisome.

“It is pertinent to reiterate that wearing of military uniforms or kits on campus by anyone is absolutely unlawful.”

'More   worrisome, is the fact   that   most   of   the   offenders   are   Ex-students who have deserted the Army, and are not legally entitled to have military uniforms or items within their possessions.

'The Ex-Boys who left Nigerian Military School from 2012 when the school ceased to be a military institution, are expected to surrender their military uniforms and kits after graduation.

'The illegal possession of military accoutrement is punishable under   sections 109,110 and 251 of Nigerian Criminal Code

'The security departments of civil institutions and the general public are also requested to report suspected impostors to nearest Nigerian Army formations or Security Agencies,' the statement read.

Petroleum Ex-minister Alison-Madueke Granted Bail

Ex-minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke who was arrested in London on Friday, October 2, has been released on bail.

After being detained for hours, report said she was granted bail. But the London Police have confirmed that the former minister would be charged to court for money laundering.

Alison-Madueke was arrested in London on Friday along with four other persons in relation to corruption allegations being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.

Multiple Bomb Blasts Rock FCT

A twin bomb has exploded  in the Kuje Prison area, a busy commercial centre  in Abuja. Terror group, Boko Haram is believed to have carried out the attack.

As at press time, there is little information as to the details of the blast, but it was gathered that the bombs went off around 10pm yesterday, October 2.

It was gathered that the suspected terrorists also blew up a police station in Kuje.

The first occurred in front of the police station, while the second went off at the Kuje main market - the explosions happened 15 minutes apart.

The third blast was said to have occurred in Nyanya Bus Station, where two bombings in 2014 killed dozens of people.

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Wilson Inalegu, has confirmed the blasts but could not ascertain the number of casualities. Reports say many died in the attack and many more injured.

“I am already at the scene of the bomb blast but cannot tell you anything now,” Inalegu who was at the scene of the blasts told Premium Times on the telephone.

He didn’t notice the unexpected roommate until housekeeping arrived with his breakfast. The woman started screaming as the crocodile made its presence known.

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday said that the list of ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation would be read at Tuesday’s plenary in line with the traditions of the parliament.

In a statement signed by Yusuph Olaniyonuu, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Saraki, the President of the Senate said that the envelope containing the list would remain sealed until plenary on Tuesday.

"The list was submitted in a sealed envelope by Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari and Sen. Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Legislative Matters (Senate).

"Dr. Saraki has decided that the envelope will remain sealed till Tuesday October 6, following the tradition of the Senate.

"During the plenary sitting of the upper legislative chamber, it will be opened and the list read to senators,'' he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the list of ministers arrived late Wednesday amid anxiety by Nigerians over Buhari's promise to appoint ministers before the end of September.
