I Will Not Leave Until June 2nd - Says Sanusi Lamido

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has declared that he will not leave until June 2.
Sanusi five-year tenure will expire on the said date and he has given indication that he will not seek a fresh term.

The Kano-born technocrat, whose letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, on alleged non-remittance of $49.8billion oil money to the Federation Account and to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)leaked, has reportedly told close aides that he had shelved his pre-retirement leave and would remain in office till the expiration of his term.
CBN spokesman, Mr. Ugo Okoroafor, yesterday informed newsmen that Sanusi said he would no longer proceed on terminal leave at a “family meeting” with the bank’s staff.
Okoroafor made the comment in Abuja after a news conference on the execution of the bank’s Payment System Vision 2020 (PSV 2020) strategy.
The reaction of the apex bank is seen as a response to the ongoing intrigues by the presidency to forcefully oust the CBN chief.
Aso Rock loyalists, are scheming to ensure that Sanusi gets the boot as soon as possible. They are accusing him of forwarding his supposed confidential letter to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who included its content in his now famous December 2 memo to the President.
However, the president, according to the law, cannot unilaterally fire a CBN governor as only two-third of the Senate can do so.
